It’s finally here! I started gathering songs for my new record For When You Don’t Sleep around this time last year. It was a fruitful writing period for me, and a lot of new things were coming to the surface in my compositions that didn’t really fit into the rock bands I was playing with. I was writing earthy, raw, swampy songs. Songs that held a little tighter to the southern portion of my roots, and songs that forced me to think outside of the box I had been inside. A few months later I had recorded guitars, basses, mandolins, ukuleles, cellos, lapsteels, some hand drums, and a few household kitchen utensils, all in an attempt to bring these new songs to life.
For When You Don’t Sleep went up for online sale in early December, and now the CDs have arrived. To bring these songs to you I’m having a CD release party at Smiley’s Acoustic Cafe on Saturday March 31st at 9pm. I’ve got some fantastic players coming to help out, and I promise it will be a show unlike anything you’ve seen. It’s been such a rewarding process to finish this project, and I really hope you good people will enjoy listening to this as much as I enjoyed making it. Get a preview on my website at www.mattfassas.com, or buy it locally at Horizon Records, or Earshot!
See you soon!
