This Saturday, June 16th, Smiley’s Acoustic Cafe is teaming up with its new neighbor, The Growler Station, to co-host a neighborhood party.
As of now, the weather report says partly cloudy with a high of 80 and an 8 mph breeze… I don’t know about you guys, but to me that sounds like some dreamy weather to welcome a beer store to the neighborhood while enjoying some sweet tunes!
Oh yeah, sweet tunes… Dangermuffin’s sweet tunes to be exact. I don’t care how many times I’ve told you about these guys, I can’t say enough about how they mix their unique blend of smooth island rock, reggae, bluegrass and jam together. It’s the kind of music you just want to be listening to with a cold drink in your hand as you lounge in the sun or dance around like a kid in a sprinkler. Not the kind where you would wear your cutoff jorts while clanking your tall boy budweisers together with three of your closest mulleted buddies (exceptions apply), maybe more like a margarita on a sandy beach… or in this case, a cold delicious craft brew from The Growler Station in a downtown Greenville parking lot!
Speaking of The Growler Station, these guys have a unique filling system that I’ve never seen before and am curious to check out. Their website states that “Standard filling equipment delivers a growler of beer that loses its integrity from the moment it’s poured, only to erode completely within 2-3 days. Our process retains the exact environment from the keg to the growler, therefore never allowing the beer to begin to break down. The result is a growler that lasts for weeks versus days.” I’m guessing it still loses some carbonation once you pop the seal just like any other growler and I’ve kept a sealed, standard tube filled growler for several days without opening it (what will power!) and it was fine, but I’m still curious to check this fan-dangled contraption out and test it myself.
So after awesome weather, great music, and delicious craft beer, there is one final and equally important piece of this equation – Smiley’s Acoustic Cafe. Smiley’s has always done a stellar job of putting on great shows, serving tasty food, and just providing an overall awesome time. I’m sure they’ll have something on the grill in the parking lot along with some other surprises because, well, that’s just their style.
So, unless your child is playing a 4 hour t-ball game in North Carolina this weekend rendering you completely unable to attend this little afternoon shindig, I highly recommend you get out and have some fun.
Cheers to beers and your ears!
