The book tour is now well under way. And, after stops in the North East and California, we are back in my favorite part of the country, the South.
In the last few weeks we have travelled through Texas, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida. Even though our schedule has been exhausting, the tour has brought back so many happy memories of the original research trip for “Fed White and Blue” as we meet old friends and make new ones everywhere we stop. The generosity of everyone we meet has been overwhelming and it is appreciated even more because, on this trip, I am lucky enough to have my beautiful and patient wife, Sybil by my side. Heck, she is even doing all the driving, so I am a double winner.
Our journey so far has seen us address students at culinary colleges and high schools, give book readings in wonderful independent book stores, demonstrate some of my favorite recipes from the Indian side of my heritage, judge culinary competitions and best of all, spend time cooking with chefs who are as skilled as they are generous with their time.
And, it is the opportunity to cook with a chef for whom I have the utmost respect, Bob Munnich of Larkins on The River that will bring us one more time to Greenville, SC on May 20th. Bob and I will be offering a multi course menu offering a unique fusion of southern ingredients and Indian techniques that promises to be both adventurous and delicious. It promises to be a great event and a great deal of fun both for all those in the kitchen and all those who buy tickets.
I hope some of you can come and join us as our road trip around the country continues.
